Reflection - School Leadership

Nearly two years after taking “Administration of School Organizations” I realize what a great beginning the course was for everything that I have studied thus far. While learning about the importance of reframing situations and taking a look “from the balcony” I gained a valuable skill that I constantly use when dealing with and difficult decisions every day. By looking at decisions through the four frames of political, human resource, symbolic and structural, I can better see how the decision will affect different groups of people.

The culminating activity of writing three letters to future faculty, parents, and students has provided me with a tool to remember the importance of looking at all vested interests before proceeding with any change. In addition, the letters provide a good starting point for working as a school administrator.
